Job/Position Summary

We’re looking for an experienced, self-directed, collaborative, and motivated UX/UI Designer to take complex workflows and convert them into simple, fluid, and delightful experiences that drive 1health’s mission to redesign diagnostic healthcare. You’ll need a strong understanding of all parts of the design process – you will partner with stakeholders, product managers, and developers to shape end-to-end experiences from concept to implementation.

Primary Responsibilities
• Work closely with your product counterpart to own the UX/UI of the 1health platform. Proactively explore how to create and enhance current workflows and follow the product roadmap for new inspiration.
• Independently deliver UX solutions for problems of large scope and complexity. Work through ambiguity, and adapt your approach to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.
• Be a champion for user-centered design by testing your solutions in front of users; and be willing to build lightweight prototypes, conduct scrappy and quick user testing if required.
• Quickly and iteratively create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups with detailed visual design specifications for mobile and web.
• Lead the planning and strategic phases of a project. Proactively pitch new CX ideas, backed by a strong, well-articulated rationale.
• Integrate user feedback and business requirements to advocate for the prioritization of design centered changes, refinements, and improvements.
• Demonstrate thought leadership (written and oral) which articulates design rationale and, when necessary, divergent approaches to design problems.

Requirements

Education and Experience
• 5+ years of dedicated experience in interaction design, experience design, or digital design is required.
• Strong working knowledge of standard UX design tools is required; experience with Figma desired.
• Bachelor’s degree in Arts/Technology is highly desired.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and emerging technologies is desired.
• Experience designing and documenting accessible experiences is desired.
• Experience planning and conducting user research and usability testing is desired.
• Experience integrating qualitative and quantitative data into design work and interactions is desired.
• Experience or interest in copywriting/UX writing is desired.
• A portfolio of work is required for consideration and will be requested on the front end of the interview process.

As a Sr UX/UI Designer on the design system, you will be a major contributor to the development and optimization of our digital properties across a multitude of technology platforms. Through ability to design frictionless digitalexperiences, you will help empower Caterpillar customers to manage their business more efficiently.

With a focus on top-notch UI design, leadership, and specification, this position will be responsible for delivering great design system user experiences for the designers, developers, and product owners, who use our design system to help create great user experiences for our customers, dealers, and their end users.

This position will work with stakeholders, vendors, creatives, and partners, translating customer needs to build design system user experience strategy by applying human-centered design. Must have strong experience delivering strategic digital capabilities across various digitalchannels.

JOB DUTIES:
• Create the highest quality design system UI component designs, specifications, and documentation
• Design the designer experience by organizing and designing Figma libraries and web-based guides
• Train and coach proper design system usage
• Create polished, production-ready UI designs for new components, variants, and updates.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications:
• Requires a four-year college degree in Graphic, Interaction, Industrial, New Media or related Design, HCI (Human Computer Interaction), human factors/ergonomics or a related field. Open to consider different educational backgrounds based on professional experiences.
• 5+ years of experience designing digital products on a variety of platforms, including web and mobile (iOS and Android) is required.
• Exceptional design skills, production value and attention to detail are required.
• Requires proficiency with Figma, or proficiency in Sketch, Adobe CC and/or associated design tools, along with the ability to quickly learn and excel in Figma. We use Figma as our primary design tool, along with its enterprise design system library tools.
• Experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies across multiple platforms is required.
• Requires ability to listen to customers and stakeholders to visually design new products and features.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience in Information Architecture, Interaction Design, UI Design, UX Research, Customer Experience and/or User Experience is desired.
• Experience with design system documentation tools like Zeroheight and Storybook
• Results-driven self-starter with a unique combination of technical knowledge, business acumen and strong general and emotional intelligence.
